Growing up, Amy holds fond memories of watching her mom make handmade cold processed soaps, lotions, balm bars, and candles using unique and natural ingredients in the spare room of her childhood home. Now, Mama Mayer’s cold processed soap recipes have been passed down to Amy, who now has taken up the mantle of creating soaps and beeswax balms using organic and natural oils. Many of the products focus on fragrance free and essential oil scented options for those with sensitive skin, with some fragrance oil options available for those who are looking for a more potent and long-lasting aroma. Cold Processed Soaps
Cold processed soaps are an art and a science. The selection of oils used impacts how well the bar lathers and the size of the bubbles! These recipes were designed for a luxurious lather and medium-sized to tight bubbles. They leave your skin feeling soft and hydrated. Our scrub bars were designed to be used in lieu of a washcloth or sponge, and can lean the dirtiest of hands. Amy regularly uses them to remove dirt from her hands after gardening and oil after working on some of our machinery.
Calendula Scrub
Ingredients: Saponified Organic Olive Oil, Organic Lard, Organic Coconut Oil, Natural Cocoa Butter, Organic Castor Oil; Calendula Petals
Scent: Fragrance Free – smells “like a good bar of soap”
Scrub: Moderate
Honey Nut Scrub
Ingredients: Saponified Organic Olive Oil, Organic Lard, Organic Coconut Oil, Natural Cocoa Butter, Organic Castor Oil; Raw Honey; Ground Hazelnuts
Scent: Fragrance Free – Quite nutty, slight honeyed background notes.
Scrub: Moderate
Mystic Hills Brewery’s “Midnight on Allen”
Ingredients: Saponified Organic Olive Oil, Organic Lard, Double Strength Brewed Coffee, Organic Coconut Oil, Natural Cocoa Butter, Organic Castor Oil; Spent Grains from “Midnight on Allen”
Scent: Fragrance Free – Very mild coffee notes with a slight aroma of grains and hops
Scrub: Light
Coffee Scrub
Ingredients: Saponified Organic Olive Oil, Organic Lard, Double Strength Brewed Coffee, Organic Coconut Oil, Natural Cocoa Butter, Organic Castor Oil; Coffee Grounds
Scent: Fragrance Free – Very mild coffee notes
Scrub: Moderate
Lavender Scrub
Ingredients: Saponified Organic Olive Oil, Organic Soybean Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Natural Cocoa Butter, Handcrafted Shea Butter, Organic Castor Oil; Lavender Essential Oil; Ground Lavender Buds; Titanium Dioxide
Scent: Essential Oil – Smells lightly of lavender
